Have a picnic at Molalla River State Park
If you’re looking for a peaceful place to walk your dog, have a picnic, fish along the river, or some place just to sit for a bit, then you can do it all by visiting the Molalla River State Park. The drive to the park is quite scenic, and you can enjoy watching wildlife once you get there. I have seen birds, squirrels, fish, and even a deer. There is a designated off leash area for your pet, and a leash 6 feet or shorter is required throughout the rest of the park. If you like to fish, a boat ramp gives you convenient access to the river. Up the river without a boat? No problem, there are huge tires that make great seats for fishing from the bank. Want a better view of the river, you can also cross the river on the Canby Ferry, located a quarter mile downstream.
There is no fee to use the park but it is a first-come, first-served park. If you want to make sure you have a spot, there are two-reservable day-use areas. For reservations, call 1-800-452-5687. If you would like additional information about the park, other than reservations, call 1-800-551-6949.
