Estacada is a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, about 30 miles southeast of Portland. Located at the base of the Clackamas River Gorge near the Mt. Hood National Forest, Estacada is the gateway to amazing fishing, hiking, picnicking, camping, and boating.
Outside the city limits the land is mainly farmland, extending from the Springwater area to the south, Eagle Creek to the west, and the Mount Hood National Forest to the north and east.
The Estacada post office opened in February 1904 and the city was incorporated in May 1905. The community was formed as a camp for workers building the Cazadero hydroelectric dam on the nearby Clackamas River that was to supply the City of Portland with electricity. The Cazadero dam was destroyed by a flood in 1965 and replaced with the current Faraday Dam.
