The Official Opening is this Tuesday at 11am with the raising of the flag.

Promontory Park in Clackamas County
Let’s go Fishing at Promontory Park in Clackamas County
It’s summer, and you’re looking for some place to go for a boat ride, fish, and maybe even camp in Clackamas County. If you want a place without huge crowds and somewhere you can take your pet, then Promontory Park is the place for you. The boat ramp available makes it easy to launch your own boat, tie up, get on, and away you go. Boat and motor rentals are also available at the concession store located near the boat dock and launching area, call 503-630-5152. Keep in mind, the lower half of the reservoir has no speed limit, but the upper half has a speed limit of 10 mph which is enforced.
ADA features that are available include accessible campsites, a restroom, and a fishing pier. The store offers food-to-go, a small selection of groceries, fishing tackle, live bait, and some of those “oh, I forgot that” items.
A large portion of the park is availabe for day use picnicking and offers electric cooking facilities for both camping and day use areas.
The are 50 campsites with restrooms and showers, including 11 yomes. Yomes are part yurt, part dome. Possession or consumption of alcohol is not permitted in the campground, day-use shelter or Small Fry Lake area. Small Fry Lake, is a one-acre lake within the park, developed exclusively for kids 14 and younger.

The Milwaukie Center Turns 30
Friday, June 4th, 2010 from 4 to 6 pm
You are invited to come and celebrate the Milwaukie Center’s 30 year anniversary with current and former staff, volunteers, former volunteers, mayors, commissioners and the entire community as the last 30 years of transformations and accomplishments are commemorated.
The North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District’s Milwaukie Center opened in January, 1980. The Center is a well-used facility, offering a wide variety of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of the community. Programs and services span weekdays, evenings and weekends. Annually, over 800 volunteers help make a difference providing more than 75,000 hours of service through the Milwaukie Center. (Information provided by the Milwuakie Center)

The Clackamas Town Center College Fair is aimed at helping High School students with one of the most important decisions of their lives! Experience a variety of interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and live performances with inspiring career options. It’s a great way for students and parents to collect information about a lot of different schools all in one place! Plus, for a limited time, attendees can receive a goody-bag filled with free product samples, discount coupons, and special offers all courtesy of the retailers at Clackamas Town Center.

Join with your neighbors and help grant the holiday wishes of low-income children, families and seniors in our community. Winter Wishes is the new name for the Neighborhood House annual holiday gift drive. A pink tea set…a dinosaur picture book…a pair of warm pajamas. So many families are in need right now. You can share some happiness at this special time of year by donating toys, clothing, household and other much-needed items from our Winter Wish List.

Spend the Day at Milo McIver State Park
If your looking for a picnic spot, a place to launch your boat, or up to challenge the Clackamas River with a raft or canoe, Milo McIver State Park has it all. There is even a place to play golf year round on a 27-hole disc golf course. If you are into wildlife or bird watching, or just need a place to get away for a little while, Milo McIver State Park has a little something for everyone. The park is also the setting for an annual Civil War re-enactment in September. During the camping season, usually May 1-Sept 30th, the campground gate is closed from 10pm-7am. The campground provides 44 electrical, 9 primitive and 1 hiker-biker site. In addition, there are 3 group tent areas. The Wild Arts Festival is an art and book show, silent auction and a celebration of nature benefiting the Audubon Society of Portland. The festival will showcase regionally and nationally known artists and authors. Besides having the opportunity to purchase art and books, you can also bid on a great selection of items at the silent auction. A sample of donated items are Oregon Wildlife original oil paintings, Hand-scupted bird bath, framed/matted wildlife prints by James Pollack, Henry Speck, Dave Bartholet, and Anthony LoSchiavo.

A salad and soup bar with lots of choices, that is what you will find at the Sweet Tomatoes in Clackamas County. It is an all-you-care-to-eat dining experience, with a bunch of daily made-from-scratch menu items. Take a Ride on the Canby Ferry
The Canby Ferry crosses the Willamette River and connects Canby and Wilsonville. The Canby Ferry is one of three remaining on the river and is the only one in Clackamas County. The ferry has room for pedestrians, bicyclists, and six cars. The M.J. Lee II, is a cable ferry powered by electricity provided by overhead lines and is guided across the river by underwater cables. The ferry is operational seven days a week from 6:45am until 9:15pm.
